I get asked a lot from history students about 'working in my field of study.' It made me think to draw some things about working in museums, even if I don't have much advice. But I have worked in a few places.

Can you speak any gaelic? I sure as hell can't, but I'm east coast scotland so I don't have to feel guilty about that.

Gah, this reminds me of my childhood working in New England house museums. SO many memories. SO much dust. And no, the general doesn't live here. He's DEAD.

We have pictures of my great-great grandparents too and it's true, they do look angry! Poor things, I'm sure they were nice.

Manitoba, and whose last name is NOT Macdonald. My favourite bit, though, was the day that I was in 1840s costume and the delivery truck thought that we were a religious group, not paid interpreters!

I used to work at a historic site commemorating Sir John A. Macdonald and the number of people convinced they were directly related to him was...astounding, even when we would pull out the family tree and point to his only great-grandson, who is living in

I am reading this from the museum where I work! Yeah Museums! Even if I am a librarian in training... but Museums are the favorite cousin to the Library so its all gooooood.

my favorite line is "well i think it's wonderful to see young people interested in things." being interested in things IS important!

I'm jealous of 18 year old you, that looks like the best job ever besides the unappreciative guests.
