PIC OF THE DAY: Parents and children get an education in methods for keeping students academically engaged over vacation at a Chancellor's Forum: Passport to Summer Learning held 6/30/10 at Brent Elementary School in Southeast. The event featured booths from community partners including the DC Public Library, pictured here, FDIC, Destination DC, Everybody Wins!, Facing History and Ourselves, the UDC Science and Engineering Center, Junior Achievement, DC Parks and Recreation, DCPS Food Services Summer Meals, Shell Hydrogen Learning Center, National Geographic and the Smithsonian National Museum of American History. Madame Tussauds had a wax likeness of first lady Michelle Obama and National Building Museum brought a Lego town building from its new display. Children and parents received passports and got them stamped at each booth. If they filled up their passports they could get a healthy snack and a "Fun and Free in DC" guide.
