Rebuilding homes and lives in Oklahoma and Texas

http://helpbuild.habitat.org/site/MessageViewer?em_id=8901.0&dlv_id=11881

By now you've probably heard about the devastation in Moore, Oklahoma, which was struck on Monday by a massive tornado. So far, authorities believe that several lives were lost, including many children. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected. We are working with first responders to assess the full extent of the damage and preparing to assist with cleanup, repairs and new construction efforts as the need and available resources become clear.

Just a few days ago, we shared news about the tornadoes in Granbury, Texas. We are deeply moved by the loss, the strength and the resilience of the affected families who are still coming to terms with the impact of last week's tornadoes.

We are grateful for our generous donors who have offered unwavering support during this critical time.

We want to update you on what is happening on the ground in Granbury and why your continued support is so vital.
Beatrice and Lucio Gamez and their three children rode out the tornado in a closet with a mattress for protection.
Wilma Walker watched as the roof of her Habitat-built house was ripped off while they were hiding in the bathroom.
A mother of three lost her Habitat home to a tornado three days before she and her family were to move in.
Whether we are mobilizing volunteers for cleanup efforts or rebuilding homes destroyed by these disasters and others like them, your support is what makes Habitat's work possible — and for that, we are deeply grateful.
