At the Sochi 2014 opening ceremony the flag of Russia was raised by cosmonaut-recordsman, hero of USSR and Russia Sergei Krikalyov and cosmonauts Roman Romanenko, Elena Serova, Svetlana Savitskaya, Fyodor Yurchikhin.
Sergei Krikalyov spent in space 803 days, 9 hours and 39 minutes (6 flights: Мir x2, Discovery, Endeavour, ISS x2). He did his first space flight in 1988 at the age of 30 (Mir-4). During his second flight (Mir-9, Mir-10) he spent in space 311days 20 hours 00 minutes 54 seconds and did 7 spacewalks. He began that flight in USSR and returned to Russian Federation. Sergei Krikalyov and Robert Cabana were the first who entered ISS in 1998. He returned to ISS as a member of Expedition-1 in 2000 and as the Commander of Expedition-11 in 2005.
