San Diego City Council Overrides Minimum Wage/Paid Sick Days Veto

The San Diego City Council on Monday voted to override Mayor Kevin Faulconer’s veto of the recently passed ordinance that boosted the city’s minimum wage and requires employers to provide paid sick days to workers. But some business owners have mounted a campaign to overturn the law. 
  
The measure increases the city’s minimum wage from $9 to $9.75 on Jan. 1, to $10.50 on Jan. 1, 2016, and to $11.50 on Jan. 1, 2017. In 2019, the minimum wage would be tied to inflation. It also provides five paid sick days per year to full-time workers with part-time workers getting a portion of that. City Council President Todd Gloria said...
