Yes it is a "Wolf Spider". Not completely harmless, but very shy.

I found one of these guys in my yard just the other week and had never, ever seen a spider like it! Now I know what kind it was- thanks!

MARTHA! don't listen to them, wolf spider DO bite, their venom is just not dangerous to us! But when they bite, they leave bleeding wounds, so gross

EEWWWWW take him outside in the garden before he snuggles up in your bed.Yanno I heard once we eat over 30 spiders in our lifetime while we are sleeping.

It could also be a hobo spider. I found one in my house the other day that looked almost identical. They do serious damage if they bite you, but I am not sure they are found out east.

Wolf Spiders eat many unwanted household pests. I keep 2 or 3 in my old stone basement. They are quite timid.

Oh, the poor misunderstood wolf spider. They are non-aggressive and only mildly poisonous to humans (More like a mosquito bite unless you are allergic). They are excellent eliminators of unwanted pests, such as ants, cockroaches, and others. They generall
