See Josh Heim's Potter's Choice combinations cups. Josh created by using one thick coat of PC-12 (Blue Midnight) as a base. Then 3 coats of the top coat were applied. Josh recommends letting the glaze dry in-between coats. Josh used a fan brush to apply the glazes because it allows for a more even coverage. AMACO 46-M Clay, a Cone 5/6 stoneware clay, was used to create the cups.

“In this Ad PC-12 Blue Midnight was used as a base. One thick base coat of PC-12 Blue Midnight was applied and then three top coats of the accompanying PC glaze was applied allowing them to dry between coats. The pots were fired in an electric kiln at Cone 5. As you can see we had some interesting and beautiful results.” To learn more go to: www.layeringamacoglazes.com

Did you know that (LG-36) Gloss Freckled Brown glaze has a beautiful flow and effect when applied alone? This vase was glazed with (LG-36) Gloss Freckled Brown glaze to show how this particular Gloss glaze flows. This (LG-36) Gloss Freckled Brown glaze and (LG-27) Gloss Turquoise Crackle are unlike the (LG) Gloss glazes that are a solid one color glaze.

"I am SO PLEASED with your [Potter's Choice] Salt Buff Cone 6 glaze! I am a production potter but am not able, due to space, to mix my own glazes. I have searched high and low for a cone 6 glaze that mimics the old-timey "tobacco spit" glazed used by the Meaders Pottery. This [Potter's Choice Salt Buff] is it! Thank you so much for this glaze. It's very reliable and predictable and so far, I haven't ruined a kiln shelf!" Launa Simmons of Pike County Pottery in Kirby, Arkansas (pictured: Launa's jugs glazes with Potter's Choice Salt Buff)

Clay Leopard of Bowling Green, TN
Title: Server with Nesting Plate
Received the AMACO/brent Purchase Award
"…This large porcelain vase appears quite traditional until closer inspection reveals the figure is composed of commercial logos. It is a sly reference to the current marriage of communication and capitalism…"

This is an Image Transfer on ceramic made by Paul Andrew Wandless with AMACO Liquid Underglazes Decorating Colors (LUGs) and Velvets (V). AMACO Liquid Underglaze Decorating Colors are intense, opaque colors ideal for covering large areas quickly, easily and smoothly. They can also be used for detailed painting, sgraffito decoration, w...ater color effects, free brush painting, wax resists and mishima decoration. AMACO Velvets semi-translucent underglazes have the appearance of velour or velvet when left unglazed or will intensify in color when covered with an AMACO Clear Transparent or Gloss glaze.
See lesson plan #41 to learn how to create your own image transfer. Also, we'll be posting photos from Paul Andrew Wandless' recent workshop at Brackers Good Earth Clay.

This Platter by Steve Howell was glazed with AMACO GDC glaze colors. This very unique series offers unlimited versatility. While developed specifically to produce the Majolica technique, these colors also perform well as a one step decoration for bisque, can be used for overall coverage as well as high fired on stoneware.

Trent Berning, Fallbrook, CA, was decorated his "Ambiguous" ceramic piece with AMACO Gloss, Textured Alligators, and Deco Gloss glazes. AMACO's Gloss Glazes flow slightly during firing to achieve a smooth, high gloss finish. AMACO's Textured Alligator Glazes produces unlimited textures during firing and are never alike due to the many variations in texture which occur in firing. AMACO's Deco Gloss Glazes are intense colors, totally opaque, and perfect for creating art deco pieces.
