With minimal promotion, the new #MovieNight channel is doing great just seven weeks after launch. I'm happy with the growth too: it's already passed a quarter-million views, 7,000+ views/day, and 20% of the reviews have more hits than the channel's subscriber base.

Portal 2, chapter 7: finally reached a challenge that has me completely stumped. This "red goo" is still new, but I'm clearly missing something in this chamber... it's obvious I have to launch myself out of the orange portal to clear the gap... but I can't figure out where/how to build that momentum.

YouTube's newest homepage takes ALL the emphasis away from creative thumbnails, and wastes lots of precious homepage on useless white space. Even worse is the default view of “Highlights” which rather arbitrarily showcases a smaller selection of videos, mostly unbeknownst to the end-user. The check-box for “Show uploads only” is useful, but it isn’t clear what happens when you uncheck it.

Utilizing roughly the same amount of screen real-estate, my proposed design retains all of the original information in an improved format: A substantially larger thumbnail - as this is perhaps the #1 traffic-driver for content; a larger (and actually legible) channel avatar; an improved feed-header that makes it undeniably clear what you are currently viewing below (”View: Everything would be the default); video title, description, and view count are also present. Taking advantage of the extra space, my proposal showcases new information as well, including the “like/dislike” bar; a smaller thumbnail, representing the video’s Show or Playlist icon (blank space, if none available); and the much-request “X” button, allowing users to quickly remove videos they don’t wish to view directly from their subscription feed.

I'm quick to criticize when @YTCreators screws up (often it seems), but the new link-backs in Analytics are great!

My Premiere Pro CS5 setup, which utilizes all the real-estate on my two 30" monitors. Been editing with various NLE's for 8 years now... and with my work flow, this is the most efficient and useful layout. I don't ever actually use the smalls "tools" module (I rely exclusively on keyboard shortcuts)... but I leave it there as a place-holder, to keep the audio meters where I want them.

#Jogwheel subscriber data from yesterday, via @VidStatsX -- I have to assume YouTube is reporting the info different? Why would there be such wild fluctuations in sub/un-sub rate on a video when no new content was uploaded? I've never seen it swing back and forth like this... weird.
