The blue-faced TBM was named TESS (Tunnel Excavation Sunny Side) by Sangida Bagum, here with Chairman Walder.

The tunnel boring machines, both seen here, are each 300 feet long from cutterhead to end of trailing gear.

The tunnel boring machine cutterheads are 22 feet in diameter. They're as tall as a 2-story building.

The machines were named by sixth graders from I.S. 204: Sangida Bagum, Michael Morales, and Angel Peralta.
