He has just been awarded a contract for the renovation of the Belmopan market. Reliable sources say that the Ministry of Works recommended that the work be given to a reputable firm. This recommendation was overridden by the Minister of Economic Development even though Grijalva's bid was $250 thousand higher than that of the Contractor recommended by the Ministry of Works. The money for this project is coming from the Inter-American Development Bank-IDB.
