#grindstop BOYCOTT #Denmark & Faroe Islands ! Faroese #tourism industry losing out on tourism revenue due to whaling!! Cruise ships bringing thousands of passengers and millions of kroner to the islands a year threatening to halt travel if slaughter does not end!
The Faroese tourism industry is slowly but surely paying the price for its annual 'Grind', the traditional slaughter of around 1,000 pilot whales every October, which all-year round draws worldwide criticism from animal rights groups and other concerned parties.
With the backing of the German Whale and Dolphin Protection Forum (WDSF) – and following in the footsteps of AIDA, a fellow German cruise company – Hapag Lloyd Cruises is threatening to cancel its routes to the Faroes should the Grind continue.
“As you might know, we have cruises planned to both Mykines and Tórshavn this year and next year,” the Hapag chief executive Karl J Pojer wrote in a letter to the Faroese prime minister, Kaj Leo Johannesen, which he also shared with media.
German ships bring thousands of passengers and millions of kroner to the Faroes every year, according to the WDSF, but they are not afraid to end the visits if it can save the whales.
“We protect what fascinates us – that is why our company and our guests have a strong wish to stop the whaling on the Faroe Islands and to create a dialogue with you,” Pojer continues.
Another German cruise company, AIDA, sent a letter to Johannesen last year as well, but received no response and reacted by cancelling its routes to the islands.
WDSF president Jürgen Ortmüller has launched a global campaign against the Faroe Islands until they at least engage in dialogue with the opposition.
High mercury levels
The brutal images of slaughtered whales and blood spilling out into the ocean has led to international outrage, but the whales aren't the only victims.
As WDSF and many others point out, the whale meat – which is eaten by the whalers, served in local restaurants and sold in local supermarkets – has dangerous levels of mercury in it and is not fit for human consumption.

#tourism NEVER EVER travel to #Bosnia !! This is the way Bosnia take care for animals! At evening tour of feeding dogs, I've found him, friend called me to come and I found him... one of our kindnes dogs, gentle with children, old men, of all people. Well, almost all. This is what is done by a man, a maniac... I don't know how to name the person who started tonight and every dog hitting with large pieces of wood. Some fled, some lame, and Maza? Well, he's looking like this. Neither alive nor dead. None of ours dog has never been so bad hurt and so should all help on the world and he need it instantly. We were at the vet, he got the treatment that is not response on, he needs an x-rays and we do not have it here. We do not !!! So I decided to take the plunge and take the dog to the human hospital, to do x rays. lt will cost a lot, and the cost of the initial examination and treatment have not been paid, then we must to do surgery. Urgent, most urgent, which means immediately, Maza needs about 200 e, less or more. This is a rescue attempt for his life, he bleeds, see the pictures, bleeding from the bottom, some bleeding inside is there and it should be operated.
If he survives, it will take more resors, but please do not leave the two of us. How many it will cost, right now I don't know, but I'm going now, first X-ray and then operation. Please help MAZA, if I tomorrow will not be able to promise the payment of further treatment (if Maza survives), I will not dare to treat him further without paying all of this and promissing to the vet that it will be payed, and this is something I can not do without a veterinarian. Please, take a look on his eyes , it leads somewhere in the distance, and who knows, he might already dreaming of a better world? Or maybe they just lost hope in humans.Let show him that humans can be good and kind, lets help him to forget this evil..And wish us luck!!

#tourism Travel to #Bali ...NEVER EVER!! In Bali frightened smuggled dogs for the black market.. are held in cages and forced to watch others killed by lethal injection. The sadistic scene involving innocent dogs whose only crime is being homeless..and suspected to have 'rabies'!! Screaming in fear the dogs are held down and given lethal injection by heart stick which is extremely painful. Other dogs must watch in terror as they await their turn. Sweet puppies are killed then picked up by the tail and thrown onto a pile of other lifeless bodies. Claimed to be strays the dogs appear to be specific breeds. Husky, Collie, pug and Pomeranian, none escape the horrific death by.
There is no compassion from the killers.Thrown into a pile the killers can be heard talking and laughing with no regard to the pain and suffering going on around them. Loving dogs treated as garbage instead of faithful companions who only wanted to be loved!!
PLEASE SIGN & SHARE WIDELY THESE ➨3 PETITIONS
◕These petitions is to ask the Governor of Bali (Indonesia) and to Bali Agricultural Quarantine (Gilimanuk) to shut down his elimination programs and offer more soulful and balance solutions as a response to the statement he made on media to eliminate more stray and smuggled dogs...

#tourism #Romania This is rthe way romanian scumbags treat animals!! Between our work at the public shelter and Labus, our own shelter, we had to experience a nightmare. On Brates road, the one we take to go to the shelter, we saw a cart and a horse hooked to it. The horse was running out of air because of the harness and the wight he had to pull.
The carter… a gypsy who turned out to be a piece of shit human, was desperate, asking us for a knife to cut the harness. My hands were shaking but i managed to cut it somehow. I meant the chance for life for this horse, exploited by scumbags who dont want to make a honest living. In those moments i tried to stop somebody, 2 drivers passed us without looking.
In that moment i wanted to take him, to save him, i asked how much money they want. They told me that they have the horse for 3 days, they payed 300 lei and they have to give another 400 lei. I left to borrow money, asked Andreea (Labus volunteer) to guard the horse. I came back in no time but the gypsies took the horse and hid him somewhere. When i saw that they took him i immediately called the police, so they see how these people treated the horse, they beat him, they made him work hard and he wasnt fed enough.
The Police, we all know how much they get involved in animal rescue cases, they were bothered by the burning Sun and by the fact that they had to walk by foot, they told me that they can not help, that i must go down to the station and write a complaint.
So now we are looking for the horse, we want to offer them money, take him and help him become a real horse, one with his head up high. Poor him was waiting for his death….

NO #tourism to #Italy !! STOP Italy's brutal horse races - the next being on August 16th, 2014!! There are about a dozen horse races, called 'pali' held in Italy throughout the year. Some are truly medieval - in all senses of the term.
These numerous palii using animals – mostly horses - held in Italy every year have always been defended in the name of an alleged respect of traditions.
In reality, the amount of money moved by these events and the huge number of serious incidents demonstrate the existence of interests that don't take in any account the wellbeing on the animals involved.
One of those races is Palio di Ronciglione. The 2011 race ended in the death of a horse, in absolutely horrific circumstances, and the fall of three others.
Although the Ministry of Health had refused to authorize the carrying out of the race due to, among other things, the lack of coverage of the road surface with suitable material, the organizers felt the need to compete on wet roads - despite the lack of authorization, despite the fact that the rain had made the road even more dangerous - and in one incident, a mare named Tiffany, died crashing into one of the fences.
The most popular race is the Palio di Siena (known locally simply as Il Palio) a horse race that is held twice each year, on July 2 and August 16, in Siena, Italy. Ten horses and riders, bareback and dressed in the appropriate colours, represent ten of the seventeen contrade, or city wards.
The race itself, in which the jockeys ride bareback, circles the Piazza del Campo, on which a thick layer of dirt has been laid, three times and usually lasts no more than 90 seconds. It is not uncommon for a few of the jockeys to be thrown off their horses while making the treacherous turns in the piazza, and indeed, it is not unusual to see unmounted horses finishing the race without their jockeys.
Accidents are common - bribery and doping, too.
We have compiled videos and pictures about these two 'palii' on our website, and at the bottom of that page you will find the link to a petition started by the 'Italian Horse Protection Association' and of which OFA is a supporter along with many other organisations, and that we kindly ask you to sign and share with your contacts.
